My Belief

I believe that we should honor the creation of our bodies. We have been given an amazing gift.

My Passion

I am not a coach that yells. The relationship I have with my athletes is that of a mentor. I am there to provide knowledge, motivation and encouragement.  If life throws up an unexpected challenge, I am there for my athletes to help them work through it.

My Philosophy

I have been given the gift to teach and my passion is training to run fast. Very fast.

Involvement In Sports

I am respectful of all my athletes and their families. If the athlete has other coaches that relationship will also be respected.

Involvement in sports gives the opportunity to learn skills that you can take into the real world. Things like financial planning, stress management, working with others, dealing with diverse personalities, learning discipline, developing a work ethic, maintaining your health and developing life goals.  I am there to help you realize you have these skills.

This is not a job or a hobby to me. I take your goals very seriously and will view them as my own.

I believe that athletes have the skills to be great leaders and have the obligation to share what they have learned.

Coaching experiences

I have over 20 years coaching athletes from youth level, high school, collegiate, Professional, and Masters Level. I coached at Lindbergh High School from 1992 - 2012, also coached the summer of 1994 - 1996 Salem Track Club and in 1996 Volunteer Coach at Willamette University, while training and competing for Club Ballard International. Currently coaching at Tahoma High School from 2012 to present, and USATF Tahoma Track Club (TTC) present. Also a member of the Washington State Coaching Association. I coach Sprints, Jumps, Hurdles, and Middle Distance. I have also done private coaching for High School Athletes in Jumps and Hurdles, and have had 5 state champions with 3 in jumps and 2 in hurdles. I have also had many top 10 state placers in Jumps and Hurdlers over the past 20 years. I had 8 athletes that placed in the top 8 in LJ, TJ, Hurdles, and Pentathlon at Junior Nationals from age 13 - 18 with 13-14 age group Pentathlon taking 2nd overall just last year (2016).

Athletic Highlights

I won the Arco Jesse Owens Games when I was 10 years old jumping 17'1 in the long jump, I was High School State Champion in the Long Jump 24'2, and Triple Jump 49'11.75" which at the time made me 2nd all time best in Washington State History, also took 2nd in 110HH with a time of 14.1 but ran a 13.8 in prelims. I am still Ranked in the top 10 All Time in Washington State History in LJ, TJ, and 110HH.

I Competed for a Junior College and ran Professional Level for Club Ballard International. While competing for Club Ballard International, I competed in the Prefontaine Classic invite in the LJ, and the 4x100 relay, LJ, TJ, and 110HH at the Harry Jerome Meet in Canada, where my team almost beat Nike International in the 4x100m relay. I ran the 3rd leg of the relay. I have PR in 110HH of 13.4 in 1996 and LJ 26'10 and TJ 54'2, but never got to compete with good coaching and never reached my potential even when having many schools looking at me for football and track, but not making the choice to compete at those levels. My goal is to give back what I have learned over the years, and help young athletes push themselves to be the best they can be. I also plan to compete in Masters soon as I continue to train while I coach.

Myself:

At the age of 9, I moved from the Philippines to the United States and I brought my love for running with me.  In the 4th grade I began running track and field competitively. From an early age, I began to excel & carried it through high school where I won a handful of state titles for Decatur High School. After a successful High School career, I was recruited by Washington State University where I was a consistent scorer for the team all the way to the National Level. Following my college career, I had the opportunity to join the Philippines National Track and Field Team.

I officially retired from competitive running last year and now I coach young athletes at Tahoma High School and Tahoma Track Club.

Highlights:

I was fortunate enough to compete at a highly competitive collegiate level. After college, I competed for the Philippines National Team. I traveled throughout South East Asia (SEA) to compete in the 100m, 200m, and the 4X100 relay. I won the 100m and 200m National titles at the Philippines National Games. I also competed at the South East Asian Games 2015 which was held in Singapore.

In the Philippines, I hold the 100m girls junior record, 200m women’s indoor record, and the second fastest 100m woman’s time in Philippine history.

Philosophy:

I appreciate the technical sprinting approaches of athletes around the world. There are minor differences in how some athletes describe or explain the technical aspects of sprinting. Having witnessed and observed these different approaches and methods, influence the way formulate the way I break down sprinting. It is a combination of the way I was taught, learned over the years and those that I’ve observed.

To me running is a way of life, and it takes commitment.  Every time you run it should be fun but that does not mean it will be easy.  It takes experienced coaches to train young athletes and I am happy to give back to this amazing sport every day.
